Appointments and procedures, led by consultants.

Every appointment at the practice is with a consultant dermatologist, with time set aside to listen, examine and explain. Here is what each appointment is for and what to expect, so you can choose with confidence.

The appointments most patients start with

Whether you are seeing us for the first time, coming in for treatment or returning to review progress, each appointment has a clear purpose and is never rushed.

Face to Face appointment

In person, with a consultant dermatologist

For any skin, hair or nail concern that is best assessed in the room. Your consultant takes a careful history, examines the skin closely and talks you through what they find, in plain language.

What to expect

  • Time to describe your concern and how it has changed
  • A thorough examination of the affected skin
  • A clear explanation and a plan agreed with you

Clinical Procedure

Planned and carried out by a consultant

When your care involves a procedure, it is discussed and agreed with you at a consultation first, then carried out by a consultant dermatologist. Nothing is rushed and nothing goes ahead until you are comfortable.

What to expect

  • The procedure, its benefits and its risks explained beforehand
  • Your consent confirmed before anything begins
  • Clear aftercare advice before you leave

Follow up consultation

For patients already in our care

A return appointment to review how you are getting on after a consultation, treatment or procedure. It is a chance to check progress, ask questions and adjust the plan if your skin needs something different.

What to expect

  • A review of how your skin has responded
  • Any results discussed and explained
  • Changes to your plan agreed together, where needed

Other ways to see a consultant

Initial consultation

A first appointment for new patients. Your consultant gets to know your concern and medical background, then recommends the right next step, whether that is treatment, a procedure or simply reassurance.

Amazing Examination

A dedicated examination appointment, given over to a careful and unhurried assessment of the skin. If you are not sure whether it suits your concern, the practice will gladly advise.

Book online or call the practice. If you are unsure which appointment to choose, an initial consultation is the right place to start.

  2. First consultation

Your consultant listens, examines your skin and explains what they find, then agrees a plan with you.

  3. Treatment or procedure

If treatment is needed, it is explained in full beforehand, including any procedure, so you can decide with time to think.

  4. Follow-up

A follow up consultation reviews your progress and adjusts the plan if your skin needs something different.

Referring a patient

GPs and colleagues are welcome to refer. For a new skin concern, refer into an initial consultation or a face to face appointment. Where you anticipate a procedure, say so in your letter and the consultant will confirm suitability at the first appointment.
